Alfred Sung was born in 1948 in Shanghai and studied couture at Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. He then went on to study at the Parson's school of design in New York He moved to Canada in 1972 and opened up his first shop called Moon. In 1979, he joined Joseph and Saul Mimran to form the Monaco Group, Inc., and it was then that they created the Alfred Sung label. In 1981, he launched his label through Saks fifth avenue, then other stores followed and started to carry his label, including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom's and Macy's. |
